Our Ultrasound Services
We offer a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations utilizing advanced technology to provide valuable diagnostic information across various medical specialities.
General Ultrasound
• Abdominal Ultrasound:
o Purpose: To visualize organs within the abdomen to assess for various conditions affecting the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, aorta, and other structures.
• Small Parts Ultrasound:
o Purpose: To visualize superficial structures like the thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, breast tissue, scrotum/testicles, superficial masses, and lymph nodes to evaluate for nodules, masses, cysts, or other abnormalities.
• Musculoskeletal Ultrasound:
o Purpose: To image muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and soft tissues to diagnose sprains, strains, tears, inflammation, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
• Vascular Ultrasound (Doppler Ultrasound):
o Purpose: Uses sound waves to evaluate blood flow in arteries and veins, helping to diagnose conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT), varicose veins, and assess blood flow in other vessels.
• Pediatric Ultrasound:
o Purpose: Ultrasound imaging tailored for infants and children to evaluate various organs and systems.
• Urological Ultrasound:
o Purpose: To visualize the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate gland (transabdominal), and testicles to evaluate for conditions such as kidney stones, hydronephrosis, bladder abnormalities, prostate enlargement, and testicular masses.
Gynaecology Ultrasound
• Pelvic Ultrasound (Transabdominal and/or Transvaginal) including 3D/4D and Colour Doppler:
o Purpose: To visualize the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and surrounding pelvic structures, including advanced 3D and 4D imaging for enhanced diagnostic capabilities in gynaecology, infertility, and early pregnancy. Colour Doppler is routinely used to assess blood flow.
• Follicle Monitoring:
o Purpose: To track the growth and development of ovarian follicles during ovulation induction for fertility treatments like IUI and IVF.
• Saline Infusion Sonohysterography (SIS) including 3D SIS:
o Purpose: Involves instilling sterile saline into the uterine cavity with the added benefit of 3D imaging for a more comprehensive visualization of the endometrium and identification of abnormalities like polyps or submucosal fibroids, particularly relevant for infertility investigations.
• Hysterosalpingo Contrast Sonography (HyCoSy) including 3D HyCoSy:
o Purpose: Uses contrast to assess the patency of the fallopian tubes, often enhanced with 3D imaging for a more detailed evaluation in infertility workups.
Early Pregnancy Ultrasound
• Early Pregnancy Scan (Viability Scan):
o Purpose: To confirm intrauterine pregnancy, assess viability (presence of a heartbeat), determine gestational age, and rule out ectopic pregnancy in early pregnancy.
• Nuchal Translucency (NT) Scan (Part of First Trimester Screening):
o Purpose: Measures the fluid-filled space at the back of the fetal neck as part of screening for chromosomal abnormalities between 11 and 13 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy.
